What is the purpose of having registered users? (5 posts)

As the title states, what is the purpose of having registered users? I have one user who is a co-author but a few others have registered. I haven't told many people about my blog. The only place I've put the url is in my facebook profile, which can only be viewed by my friends.

So, what is the purpose for having users, other than for additional authors?

There's lots of potential reasons, but the important thing here is that they're your reasons. If you can't think of a reason for having them, then you probably don't need them, yeah? Turn off registration and add whatever users you want manually instead.

Thanks Otto. I can't think of any good reason to have registered users, so I disabled the registration. I have Askimet and am going to add re-Captcha the help combat spam.

I was just surprised to actually see people registered since I have done no advertising yet.

How do I add a registered user capability to my blog?
