• Is it better to use your free hosting account on godaddy (the one you get when purchasing a domain) and install wordpress with that or should you buy the wordpress hosting plan godaddy offers?

  • WordPress will not work with GoDaddy’s free hosting

    Don’t Use GoDaddy!!! Problem solved!
    They are more trouble than they are worth… Use a better host service.

    it won’t work on godaddy’s windows servers either without huge problems

    Use Godaddy for your domain name and Hostgator or other similar cPanel host to self-publish. [spam link removed]

    Just wanted to clarify that WordPress will not work properly on our free ad-supported hosting. We do have many customers that run WordPress successfully on our paid hosting accounts. I’d be happy to help anyone that has experienced otherwise.

    Well I’ve personally been having trouble with this. Just been trying to setup my stuff but it seems to not be able contact my database server. If you could check out my info or get intouch with me to troubleshoot I would be most appreciated.

    I’m using WP on GoDaddy and it’s working properly. GoDaddy clearly states that you must upgrade to “deluxe” hosting to use WP. They have auto-installation (2 minute installation) and very helpful staff.

    I am having the same problem. GoDaddy said, unless I misunderstood, that the hosting I have is fine to support the WordPress application, but I have been having problems since yesterday. I went through all the troubleshooting documents I got, and still nothing. I even uninstalled it and reinstalled it, went into the mySQL database and made sure everything was fine and still, nothing. GDHosting, or if anybody else can help (besides of course just saying don’t use GoDaddy 😛 ) that would be so awesome.

    We can certainly take a look. Please email hosting@godaddy.com with some more details and the domain name.

    Thanks for the kind words! WordPress is fully functional on our economy hosting. You may be referring to the install of WordPressMU, when you say — Go Daddy states that you must upgrade to deluxe hosting in order to use WordPress. More on that here: http://help.godaddy.com/article/5072

    @gdhosting
    I sent along an email last night. Generally how long does it take to receive a response?

    Also, I do have the economy hosting, at the moment. I checked my login today, and it still does the same thing. It acts like it isn’t even directing the site, I could put in any combination of admin/password and it just acts like it refreshes. I don’t even get error messages for wrong passwords/logins. So frustrating. 🙁

    I am guessing pretty long, lol.

    @Mandragal
    I checked it out and see an .htaccess in the root of your hosting account which redirects all requests. I sent you an email with full details, but basically you need to remove the rewrite rule from the .htaccess file. Then use the following instructions to change your site URL.
