What is the best way to edit my site's appearance? (3 posts)

Basically I am very new to wordpress and am trying to set up a site for my webcomic. Therefore I am using the comicpress theme.

I am trying to edit the appearance of my site, and have been rapidly learning along the way but I have reached a brick wall.

From what I gather you can edit the appearance of your site in appearance>editor. And also using an FTP. Is there any other ways?

Also can you edit the WHOLE of your site in appearance>editor? And do the templates listed along the right side currently make up your site? I have found that I can change the position of my header in the stylesheet, but can't seem to change the hover here. I can't find where the code is that makes the hover at the moment.

In a nutshell I am not sure where to look to start editing the code to make the appearance of my site how I want it. Please help!!!

what makes this question so different that you can't continue with the other thread?]

Do a search for 'hover' in your style.css

Thank you very much for your reply neverenoughnotes. It was very helpful and I can now edit my hover.

It would be really great if you could also tell me if I can edit the WHOLE of my site in appearance>editor? By editing the code in the templates and the stylesheet, do I have complete control of my site? Or would I still need to use an FTP sometimes.

I sorry this is a really nooby question, but if I find the answer to this question I will know exactly what I need to do from now on :).
