I know many of you are using one. I would like to get one for myself even if it is a paid one.
So, I will need your suggestions.

    Will be waiting....

For me the choices are pretty clear. On the PC, Feeddemon. On a Mac, NetNewsWire.

Both, however, are commercial products but are well worth paying for IMO.

I'm using feedreader.com. If you like light and simple, you should try it out.

I use SharpReader. For the Windows OS, and runs on the .NET Framework. It's simple and fairly easy to use.

    FeedDemon is excellent.

If you want a server side solution (or one that will run on xampp) check out Gregarius.

Not technically a desktop product, but Bloglines (http://www.bloglines.com) is an excellent tool, and allows me to read from any computer.

FeedDemon looks great, and Bloglines too. Unfortunately neither can post directly to WP! Does anyone have a desktop solution that can do this?

    For the mac: NewsFire.

I think it's better than newtnewswire. the only problem is that you have to pay if you don't want annoying messages.

I use the inbuilt reader in Opera myself. Handy as I already use Opera as my main browser.

Firefox also handles RSS feeds by default and I believe there is some plugins to help out too.

    Maxxed,
Did you mean something equivalent to "Blog This" i.e. respond to an article your reading by posting to your blog ? FeedDaemon does not directly support this, but you can configure FeedDaemon use a helper application (a desktop blog editor) to do this. (so, its a two-app solution)

  15. On the original subject of "What is the best rss reader for desktop?", I prefer RSSOwl, mostly because it's free, open-source, and cross-platform.
