    Hello,

When I test the speed of my site the script "http://s.gravatar.com/js/gprofiles.js?aa&ver=3.4" keeps coming up as something to look into. I presume it's a javascript but what is it for and do I need it ? If I don't really need it how can I get my wordpress install not to load it / reference it?

My site is really an informational one and not something that people can make comments on.

    Regards

    Gavin

That's a call to for gravatars. If you don't need it, disable gravatars in your Dashboard.

This is just off the top of my head, but it should be in the general area.

To turn avatars off, go to 'Settings' -> 'Discussion'

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says 'Avatars', and click on the option for 'Don’t show Avatars'.

    @ MuViMoTV

Are you using BuddyPress or any theme that requires the use of gravatars?

I've tried everything to stop that script call for gravatar but nothing works.

I'm also trying to figure out how to modify that script call. It seems to originate in the footer, being called in the wp_footer() or woo_foot() function. For those of you more seasoned with WP than myself: is there some way to find-and-replace the script call? And, say, reroute it to a local copy on my server? Their latest gprofiles.js version has an extra comma that breaks IE7...

For those that are still struggling with this issue, I ran into it myself and I've found where those scripts are being enqued. In the jetpack plugin under modules in a file called 'gravatar-hovercards.php' in my version they were on lines 174 and 175. I commented those and got rid of the issue.
