What is: base64_decode? (3 posts)

    The TAC plugin raises an alert on this bit of code and I don't know if it is a bad thing of something I should ignore.

    $imgData = base64_decode("[ Redacted, really do not post that here. ]");

    Yes or no would be great but the icing on the cake for me would be an explanation of what the code does.

    It's in thumbs.php on the Skeleton Theme.

    Don't use a theme that has Base64 in it. There is no reason why a theme should use the code.

    BTW, Base 64 is an encryption code used for security and other purposes, but it is also used for malicious purposes, malware, adware, etc.

  3. If a theme or plugin contains code like that, delete it. The people who embed that in their themes are up to no good.

    For a good write up of why you should only get themes from trusted sources, give Chip's article a read.
