What happens to the "Description" field when posting a photo (2 posts)

I have a photo heavy blog. When I post images, I can enter Title,
    Alternate text,
    Caption,
    and
    Description

take for example this post and this image:

    Post:
    http://schoenfeldt.com/blog/446/shots-from-a-wedding-in-pacific-grove/
    Image:
    http://schoenfeldt.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/IMG_2478.jpg

In the description field for fun I put "Testing Testing 123." But as far as I can tell, that text is not recorded anywhere on my blog. It is not attached to the image or blog post in any way, including source.

    Is this correct?

This is an important question, as if the information is accessible on the blog in any way, then I will fill it out. If it is not, then I will not bother.

    Thanks,
    Alex

It is attached to the image within the database. Whether it is used or not depends upon your theme.
