I’m new to WordPress as my first bout with it was with 2.3. I tested things on my home server with magazine themes as I plan to use one as a CMS. I finally got the hang of it, messing around with the php files and stylesheets–then BAM! In version 2.5, the category IDs disappeared (in the “manage category” section). What happened to them? And where can I buy some?

Category IDs are essential to my magazine-style theme to control the content of the home page (i.e. display recent post from cat. 3).

    Thanks a bunch!

I downloaded the plugin, but it doesn’t seem to show the category IDs. I’ll head over to the author’s page.

    Thanks again!

go to settings, you don’t need to change anything but just hit update. It’s something of an install function.

Just hover your mouse over the categories title on the manage>categories page and the ID is shown in the link – at the end where is says &cat_ID=

Okay, it works now. Thanks again. The “instructions” for the plugin didn’t say anything about going to the settings and updating anything.

    This is what it says:

    1. Download the plugin and unzip it.
    2. Upload the folder reveal-ids-for-wp-admin-25/ to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.
    3. Activate the plugin from your WordPress admin panel.
    4. Installation finished.
