[resolved] What file to edit to change default sidebar text? (5 posts)

I'm using WP 3.0 multisite, and want a pre-defined sidebar for all new blogs.

Editing sidebar.php directly DOES NOT work since my sidebar is widgetized. So my question is two-fold:

    1. Where in the WP 3.0 file system can I make simple changes to the default sidebar? (change the text, add, remove extra links, etc)

    2. Is there a plugin that allows me to define a new default sidebar some other way?

    Any help on this?

  3. the sidebar entirely depends on what theme you're using. If every single blog will be using TwentyTen, there's your answer.

Changing some of the things like the default links in the blogroll is entirely different. The sidebar just pulls that info.

    You can change that with:

Right. So I finally found it. For anyone else who stumbles across this, look in the /wp-includes/default-widgets.php

  5. If they want to hack things, sure.
