Just curious. I know you have to run it to upgrade [right?] but what does it "actually" do to upgrade the installation? I marvel at how it can do whatever it does in one step!! ;)

upgrade.php ensures that any necessary changes to database structure required by a new version are made along with adding any new default option values to the database.
