   My site is now live for a day but I have not told anyone about it. The only content has been self generated as I build/test the site. I have seen this before on comments but now would like to know what [...} means as I received a comment to one of my entries.

   It usually means that there is more to the comment than is being displayed.

   Can you elaborate a bit? Is the remaining comment sitting somewhere else on my blog? When I see it looks like comments within this [...] are trackbacks(?) coming from another site?

   If you made a post that linked to one of your other posts, that would generate a pingback, which would appear as a comment. An extract of the new post would appear, with [...] before and after.
