what does "being hacked" mean? (3 posts)

    1. im new to all this. First off is i cant log in. i have no clue what all the other posters are telling people what to do as far as fixing thier log in issues. codec? php? huh????? admin?? i dont understand any of this. my site is up on wordpress; i just can no longer access it.

    all i know is i get error message that says incorrect password. then it says "no user registered under my email address". i get no new passwords emailed to me therefore....HELP? maybe my account is not activated? dont know how thats possible as yesterday i was making changes to my blog in here.....today i cant log in.....

    2. also what does it mean when people say they have been hacked?????

    1) First of all, what do you mean by

    my site is up on wordpress

    Are you talking about a site like http://xxxxxx.wordpress.com? If that's the case, then WP.com forum is at
    http://en.forums.wordpress.com/

    If you have a self-installed WordPress, then reset your password using phpMyAdmin which you should have access to.
    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/phpmyadmin/

    2) There are different kinds of hacks which may be prevented by "hardening your WordPress." It could be the "hijack" of your whole website (domain name and hosting) to javascript injection.

    I'm having same problem you listed in #1--since yesterday, as well.
