You should warn people about the unexpected loud noise on these forums.
Thanks… would you recommend not having the video automatically start?
I took out the autoplay…thanks
Autoplaying videos or any audio when the site open is always a Really Bad Idea(tm) for a number of reasons:
1. Some people may be viewing the site in an office or a library and the sudden sound may cause problems.
2. Many people (and I freely admit that I am in this group) prefer to decide what & when they want to watch/hear. If I open a number of sites in new tabs and 1 tab starts to play sound, it gets closed immediately. Often without me even looking at the site.
3. Most important of all – some visually-impaired people (or those with reading difficulties) use screen reading software that “reads” the site to them. Autoplaying video or audio conflicts with their own software’s output and may result in them being unable to use the site at all. As such discrimination against disabled people is legislated against in many countries, this could place your site on the wrong side of the law.
Thank you very much for your feedback… the visitor should have to make the decision whether or not to watch the video… that’s a great comment… I didn’t even think of the screen reading software… great points… thank you so much for your valuable feedback.
