   I'm not new to Web design, but I am utterly new to interactive, database-driven Web design. I have a blog up and running on WP, and it's okay, but I know it has the potential to be much better. I'm comfortable with HTML and CSS, but I know that's not enough to get the most out of WordPress.

   What do I need to learn to make the most of WordPress, and my site? I want to learn. I need to learn. Point me in the right direction?

   PHP and CSS. preferably SQL too.

   check out the codex and maybe try modifying a theme.

   Depends on what you mean by 'the most.' If you want to write plugins and design complex themes, PHP and SQL, but most of us get by with just PHP, HTML and CSS ;)

   The Codex is really helpful, but so is just a google for 'wordpress rotating header' for example ;)
