I am setting up a blog for a friend, at http://www.shawnbakken.net . I got more adventurous than my current ability should allow, and now, as you can see - the text sections aren't really lined up properly with the background sections.
Everything I did to it was in the css page. Any (idiot proof) suggestions as to how I can fix the formatting
We can't see the site it's down. My suggestion would be to re upload your theme's style sheet and try again.
there is nothing at that link...so a bit hard to help at the mo!

Weird, the site works for me. It's a brand new domain though, so maybe it hasn't gone through on all servers or whatever?
Site works for me. And other than the header image being way too big, it looks fine to me.

So is there no way to adjust the rest of the page to fit a wider header?
Of course, there is.
You learn CSS and redesign the theme.
But no, there is no "one-click" solution to get what you want.
