Which part of the code controls the layout when a post heading is clicked? I am customizing theme Modicus Remixed and want to change the layout when a single post is opened. Thanks!

/wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME/single.php
thanks for the reply
yes, that's what i thought but i understand that it should default to the standard layout in index.php if single.php is not present - in this theme it doesn't (even if i delete the cache etc). so what is controlling the layout?
Just downloaded it - it does have a single.php in the theme folder.
sorry i should clarify: i tried removing single.php and it didnt affect the layout of a single post so logically i conclude some other file must be controlling the layout but which?
no, if you remove single.php, the index.php takes over. If you want to change the look of the single post without affecting the other layout, configure single.php.
i would like a single post to use the same template as the normal index.php
when i delete single.php, it doesnt use the index.php to generate the page template - the single post format is still not the same as the index format.
(in this theme, there is a bug where the post title and info appears in the top of the sidebar)
so i have to figure out how to alter the code to get the post correctly formatted as in the normal index page. i need help with that!

no i found out the original Modicus theme moved some content into the sidebar. i have already contacted the author and the theme is not supported, hence asking for help.
