   My client uses WP with a black theme. Her store sells candles, pillows etc.

   I can't find much on which colors work best for ecommerce sites, but I'm pretty certain black is low on the list of effective colors.

   Any thoughts?

   If it was food that was being sold I'd say use yellow and orange, and maybe a tinge of a lighter red. These colors have been proved to effect whether you want to eat or not. (Notice all the fast-food places use them.) But I guess that's not very helpful in ecommerce with candles, pillows, etc. Only you can know for sure what look you are going for. With that said, there are a lot of colory theory sites out there which can help you in the task. http://www.colormatters.com/des_ecom.html is a good one. Just try googling color theory for ecommerce or something like that.
