What CMS is running a site

    Whenever I wonder what a website is running I use the tool http://builtwith.com/

    So for example if you analyze http://www.wordpress.org it will spit out WordPress as the CMS. But when I type in a website that I built with WordPress; it does not report that it was built with WordPress. Why?

    Is there some configuration setting that I am missing?

    Maybe the generator meta tag has been removed with something like
    remove_action ('wp_head', 'wp_generator'); in the functions.php
