But I have seen sites that use all four. So, which ones are most popular? Or should I just use all 4 too?
Yes, put up all 4
No, put up only 1
Shall I have apple pie or blueberry, or both? Joshua, it is your choice. Do whatever you want. There is not a "best" for all. You said you checked your stats, didn't the number of hits tell you anything? I don't think there is a better answer than welsper's.
You know, I was really looking for a more techincal answer. One that would tell me if I am leaving some people out of being able to syndicate my site if I only use one version. But I think I prefer to use RSS 2.0 since it seems to be the most advanced. Anyone who can read RSS .92 or 1.o should also be able to read 2.0. But I did redirect those other files to wp-rss2.php, so anyone who is looking for a feed will find one.
Well, there really isn't a technical answer. If you want to catch "everybody" then you will have to put up all links, just like if you want to catch all people using old browsers you have to code your html much differently than you probably do now. If you check your stats and only a couple of people are using RSS .92 then I'd say the answer is pretty obvious. Those who can't get a feed, want one, and complain - you can then tell them to upgrade to an aggregator that supports 2.0 (or send them a link to the older standard ;-)
u have got working feed URI on ur blog.
if people assume ur feed to be something other than that, its not ur fault.
and its not other people who are looking for atom.xml or rss.xml, its the bots. if u want to take care of the bots, make redirecting links. WP give u all the rss standards, what else can they do!
I have already made redirecting links, but thanks for the tip. Maybe someone else will benefit from it. And I wasn't complaining at all about WordPress, because they have covered all the bases, and they almost always do.
ok i forgot to add a smily like i normally do at the end! :)
