Weird WP Backend Database Issue (4 posts)

First of all, the front end of the site is fine. All pages and posts can be accessed.

I can also logging to the backend without issue. However it shows 0 posts and 0 pages. Nothing at all. I've checked the database and the content is all there. I've also used the admin bar in the front end to try to edit the page but all I've gotten was a "You attempted to edit an item that doesn’t exist. Perhaps it was deleted?" error message.

I've checked with the hoster and got the usual reply that I should upgrade wordpress and the plugins. Considering that the site worked a week ago with the same plugins, I fail to see why that would be the cause.

    Any advise? Thanks in advanced.

    Try these steps:
    - deactivate all plugins and see if the problem persists. If it solves the problem, activate plugins one by one until you find the problematic one
    - revert to Twenty Twelve theme and see if the issue is theme-specific
    - delete any inactive plugins
    - reinstall WordPress manually from a freshly downloaded copy except wp-content. Do not overwrite files/ folders but delete them before reinstalling.
    - run the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Use FTP or your hosting control panel if you cannot access/ work from dashboard.
Backup your site including database so that you can restore in case anything goes wrong.

I've tried to deactivate the plugins and revert the themes. I am not able to do them from the dashboard unfortunately. It says that I've done them but no changes were made.

Will be doing an upgrade to 3.5.2 in a while.

You can use FTP/ hosting control panel to deactivate plugins (add -old) and similarly you can revert to the WordPress default theme by renaming the current theme by adding -old. If you are upgrading, better make these changes and upgrade so that you will have no further problems.
