Hi everyone, I'm no WordPress guru but it seems like all of you are. Recently I've had a problem accessing my wordpress blog from Firefox on a certain page. When I go to my main page - http://www.cynthealiu.com (With Firefox), I get this pop-up that asks me to dowload an "application". If I go to any other page on my blog, the page loads fine. this problem just started about a week ago. Before that I had no issues viewing my blog.

Keep in mind Internet Explorer has no problem loading the homepage. It's just Firefox and that one particular page. Any ideas on how to fix this? Is this even wordpress related? Thanks!

    Hi cynthea

I use Firefox and didn't see such a message. Are there any embeded objects or anything which would require a plugin (or maybe an upgrade?) on your site? (such as Flash, Java/Javascript, etc.)

I looked on several pages of your site but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Hi Cynthia - I just ran through your site, clicking links and so on all over. Didn't see a thing like you're describing. I'm using FF 1.5.0.6, buncha extensions....

    Nice site! Great info....

With FF 1.5.0.7 I don't get a popup. Must be something specific to your browser.

Ok, weird. I'm going to uninstall Firefox, delete it completely, then reinstall it. (I've done this once before, but maybe it didn't take?!) Right now I'm on this version: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.6) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.6. Only default options are selected.

As far as I know there is nothing fancy about my website (flash, java, etc.,). (Thanks for the compliment, btw) I even changed themes to see if the theme was the problem and that wasn't it.
This is a relief if it's just me with the "issues". It's always me. Darn it.

I'll post with an update after I do a firefox reinstall. Thanks, everyone!

Be sure you reinstall with a new profile, otherwise you'll just transfer the problem whatever it is to the new install.

Here's what I did. I went to Control Panel, deinstalled FireFox. DELETED the whole Mozilla Firefox folder under Program files. Downloaded the latest zip file for Firefox, unzipped it, and installed it.

Now what is this "profile" you are speaking of? Because I still have the same problem I did before. And why, why, why, me?! hahaha

Thanks so much for your help.

Well, the profile info is stored in (usually) Documents and Settings/*your username*/Application Data/Mozilla/Firefox/Profiles.

What you want to do is delete the whole Mozilla/Firefox folder - then uninstall FF, and start over.

Oh never mind. I see what you mean! I'll work on that now. I'm going to delete the profile and try again. Hope this works! Thanks for the tip!
