  • If you installed Supercache then I guess you shouldn’t be worried .

Anything in particular that you are worried about? Are you experiencing any weird behavior?

I was getting a fatal error associated with functions.php so in my searches read to check my htaccess file for hacks. I resolved the fatal error by deleting some plugins but was now curious about my htaccess file. Yes I am running WP Super Cache but what was most concerning were the references to the cell phones and stuff:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^.*(2.0\ MMP|240×320|400X240|AvantGo|BlackBerry|Blazer|Cellphone|Danger|DoCoMo|Elaine/3.0|EudoraWeb|Googlebot-Mobile|hiptop|IEMobile|KYOCERA/WX310K|LG/U990|MIDP-2.|MMEF20|MOT-V|NetFront|Newt|Nintendo\ Wii|Nitro|Nokia|Opera\ Mini|Palm|PlayStation\ Portable|portalmmm|Proxinet|ProxiNet|SHARP-TQ-GX10|SHG-i900|Small|SonyEricsson|Symbian\ OS|SymbianOS|TS21i-10|UP.Browser|UP.Link|webOS|Windows\ CE|WinWAP|YahooSeeker/M1A1-R2D2|iPhone|iPod|Android|BlackBerry9530|LG-TU915\ Obigo|LGE\ VX|webOS|Nokia5800).* [NC]

Also found some unwanted image files in my uploads dir – jpgs of “you’ve been hacked” pictures. Just want to make sure all is good and try to tighten things up. Any suggestions?

The cellphone reference is there to make sure that the plugin isn’t breaking stuff for people browsing in their cellphones.

Are you running the latest version of WordPress?

Unfortunately I don’t have much time today to go into details of what you can do to clean your WordPress install up. (Personally I’d do a fresh install and import content, you’d have to be careful when it comes to images associated to your posts).

There are plugins out there that can (or at least they claim they can) scan your WordPress for security holes. It wouldn’t hurt to look them up and see what they do.

You could also check out VaultPress, which is a subscription based service from Automattic (Disclaimer: I work for Automattic).

Thank you Egill!I’ll look into your suggestions … and maybe pick your brain a bit more at a later date 😉

Thinking about it, if your WordPress has been compromised I would really look into doing a fresh install and then import your content/images back into it.

I’d also change the password for my email account and for WordPress, to be on the safe side.
