Website unavaible, but WP was running! (14 posts)

Hi, I had a website here:

    http://www.giochipokergames.it/

but it says that's unavaible, while this website is in the google cache (so it was online some time ago).

So I joined cpanel and I checked: there's database and there are files, but the site won't show up.
It's not a DNS problem since I can reach this file:

    http://www.giochipokergames.it/license.txt

but I can't get WP-admin or other stuff to login.

I downloaded the WP-Config and it seems to be ok. Got any ideas about what could it be? What should I check to get it running again without re-installing it? Thank you in advance.

    try this http://www.giochipokergames.it/wp-admin

if its not working revert to the default theme and disable your plugins. You may also check your htaccess file.

There are no plugins running, I may delete theme files but the website was running with the template that's actually installed; and I already checked the htaccess file, seems to be ok

    ty in advance

You can deactivate themes or plugins it is easy just rename the themes or plugins folder and create new one the all plugins or themes will be deactivated without logging in.

Did you deactivated all themes? copy twentyeleven and twentyten to new wordpress themes directory.

Create a backup of your wordpress site and then update your wordpress.

  12. It is also partly a DNS issue.

    This is resolvable.

    http://www.giochipokergames.it/wp-admin/index.php

but it tries to load content off of http://giochipokergames.it/ which is using a host name that is not resolvable.

The other issue is that your web server is returning 406 Not Acceptable errors.

    $ curl -I http://www.giochipokergames.it/index.php
    HTTP/1.1 406 Not Acceptable
    Date: Mon, 26 Mar 2012 17:16:11 GMT
    Server: Apache
    Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

Since it doesn't happen for static content such as

    http://www.giochipokergames.it/license.txt
http://www.giochipokergames.it/readme.html (BTW you are running WordPress 3.1.2)
    http://www.giochipokergames.it/wp-content/plugins/akismet/readme.txt

    Or even some 404 pages
    http://www.giochipokergames.it/not-here.txt

Then I think your server's PHP may have a problem. Check with your host provider.

so you think I should mail the host provider asking to check if their server is running normally?

  14. I think that would be a good idea. There is something odd going on with your setup. It may be your WordPress installation or it may be your server.

You can overwrite your 3.1.2 files by making a full backup of your existing files (backups are your friend) and then extracting the 3.1.2 file on top of that.

    From the release archive:

    http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.1.2.zip

If that lets you in, then read up on upgrading to 3.3.1. From your version you should be able to upgrade via the admin page.

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended#Upgrading_from_Version_2.7.x_to_3.3.1

Please make sure you have a good full file and database backup first. Then follow those instructions 1 - 5 on that link.
