Website lockdown - no access to WP dashboard (12 posts)

    Hi there,

My site has apparently gone into lockdown, following 'too many failed login attempts or invalid username'. I think this is because of AIOWPSF shutting it down to a hack, perhaps??

While the website is still up and running (on other machines), I cannot view the website or access my WordPress dashboard to log into the admin/site from my Mac. So I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

Please could someone advise (in really simple steps - I'm non-techie) :)

    Many thanks in advance...

    Hi there,

Thanks for the link - but I still don't have access.

I have changed the htaaccess file (restored the backup file), removed all plugins by changing the 'plugins' folder to 'plugins-temp' (all by FTP) and created a new user through my server Control Panel.

When I type my URL in, nothing happens.

Similarly, when I type my URL followed by /wp-admin/index.htp nothing happens.

I can't seem to get into my WP dashboard.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,

I have just used an iPad to login to the WP dashboard for my site, and I can get in and all seems to work fine.

The issue could then be my MacBook Air, and iMac.... specifically? But then why would I get an email?

Any ideas why that would be???

Hello I did try your URL above to display the wp-admin screen and it does work for me on my browser. I am running Windows 7 and the browser I used is seamonkey.

So you have an issue with your iMac and MacBook Air cache I suspect. Unfortunately I don't own an iMac :( so I can't test whether it is an isolated issue with Mac or not. However there must be some settings you can clear in your Mac machine.

    Kind regards

    Hi there,

It continues... I have flushed the DNS, cleared the cache, tried another browser (FireFox), deleted the wireless network from my settings and then signed back up... and still nothing.

It is very frustrating. I have spoken to Apple and they send me back to my server provider (my IP is not blocked from there)... so I reckon it must be an issue within my Mac that I can't identify.

Are there any Mac users out there with suggestions?

Thanks for your help Mbrsolution - appreciate your help!

    Best wishes.
