I installed WP onto my server (Laughingsquid), copied over all the files from my wordpress.com blog (http://letsdosomethingdifferent.wordpress.com/) and had my new website working this morning: nobeatenpath.com
Then after installing a few plug-ins it all went pear shaped – I couldn’t even log in to the dashboard. I used the ftp to get rid of plug-ins, but still didn’t help. So I deleted everything, and did a total re-install.
Now when I run the ‘http://nobeatenpath.com/wp-admin/install.php’ instruction I get:
    Not Found

The requested URL /wp-admin/install.php was not found on this server.
    Apache/2.2 Server at nobeatenpath.com Port 80

I have spent all day working on this. I am not a CSS guru at all, and am pulling my hair out. ANY help is welcome. Especially as to why I could access the dashboard and then not.

  • It appears that you may have deleted the folder /public_html/

That folder (or on a few web hosts, another folder name) is the Root of your web site file structure.

I just recreated this problem on a dormant web site of my own, and get exactly the same results I see on your web site, if I delete public_html

Thanks. Since I am such a noob, any suggestions on how to fix the problem if that is the case?

You can create the /public_html/ folder with ftp or your host’s control panel’s File Manager. But, if you are not sure “where” to create it, best to ask for help. Especially since you may have deleted “other stuff”, too.

I would talk to your web host’s Support Folks, and tell them what you did (“I accidentally deleted public_html, and maybe some other folders, and I don’t know how or where to re-create them”). At that point, they should offer to rebuild your web hosting account from scratch.

Thanks Adiant. I have already sent me an email, if there is no joy I will suggest what you wrote!

sometimes the error displayed like blank page. so there should be coding error check in database error ans solve it very well.
