In previous wordpress blogs we've run, we have posted an entry and noticed google indexes in a fairly timely manner. These have either been self hosted, isolated blogs, or hosted through wordpress.
Recently, we attached a wordpress blog to our website domain in the directory "blog". We've noticed that indexing has not happened for individual posts, just the home page. We also got an error on our blog feed from a google bot:
(compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)
We double checked all settings which would otherwise inhibit spiders to crawl.
We also attempted to submit two sitemaps to google webmaster tools. One for the website, and another for the blog. The one for the blog was rejected.
What are suggestions on having a website and blog on the same server. We have seen this done successfully, although do not understand what issues may be causing the failed crawl attempt, submission of webmastertools sitemap, and other.
