• I would really appreciate some help with website http://www.glyniswozniak.co.uk.

Today, I spend a great deal of time updating my website and, because I didn’t like its blue heading, tried on a new appearance called Quickpic.

However, immediately afterwards, I could not edit any pages and when I click on the page in edit mode, they come up blank.

I tried opening the website with IE instead and when I log in to my admin, an error message comes up saying this page can’t be found.

Can someone please help me as the text is out of sequence now and the whole site looks ridiculous.

Whilst on this note, downloads of themes do not go to my theme folder going, instead, to my desktop download folder making them unusuable. Can anyone suggest a way round this so I can get a better overall appearance?

    Many thanks, Glynis

  • Try switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

How, exactly, are you downloading themes?

Thank you for your suggestion, but pages in admin mode are simply coming up blank so I can’t do anything.

I am downloading themes simply by clicking on downloads. The theme page says it will save in your theme folder, but it’s not.

Please re-read my post above. The suggestion I made does not require you to login to your WordPress dashboard.

Where? In your site? or On http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

    Hi again,

Yes, I was downloading themes on http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ but they just go straight on to my PC download file.

I attempted to save the them as -old as suggested by clicking on ‘Themes’ on my Home page and then clicking on My Themes, but that page is also blank and I will not let me copy text into it. Any ideas? Thanks.

That’s what should happen, You then unpack the archive, extract the theme’s folder and upload it to wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

Alternatively, you can browse and install themes via the Appearance -> Themes page of your admin area. That’s the only way that new themes will be downloaded directly to your site.
