Web/Graphic Design Portfolio Question (3 posts)

How difficult is it to build a web or graphic design portfolio using WordPress, and what degree of hacking and/or custom tags is required? I want to have thumbnails of work samples that open up into a page with a larger image and some text. Nothing revolutionary.

    Thanks,
    Sal

We have a ton of information to help you create and develop your own theme on the WordPress Codex:

    http://codex.wordpress.org
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_Design_and_Layout
    http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Lessons
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes

If you are familiar with CSS, this is simple stuff. You can start from one of the two included Themes which come with WordPress to begin messing around or choose from one of the hundreds of Themes available, like those found at http://wordpress.org/extend/

I recommend that you start from a theme that is "close" to what you want unless you are an expert in CSS. Then go from there.

And there is an article that will answer your questions about images at http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Images

Thanks for the reply. I am very experienced with css, and already have designs created for my portfolio site. My question was more about how to structure a portfolio site using Word Press, rather than creating it myself from scratch.

    Thanks,
    Sal
