One would have to try every conceivable alternative before deciding which was best … for that individual – the next persons experience may well be different. All hosts occasionally have a problem, have different hosting deals, etc. There is really no standard that can be applied to all equally.

I’ve used BlueHost for quite a while now and absolutely love them as a hosting company. You can use Fantastico or Simple Scripts for a one-click install, or you can just upload files the usual way. I won’t say they know absolutely everything when it comes to WordPress, however, I have found that their support tends to know a lot more, or is a lot more helpful with WordPress issues than my previous host was.
