Weaver II Admin and limitations (4 posts)

    Hello,

I have two queries regarding the weaver ii theme:

    1) I am making customisations in the Weaver II admin panel. Is this the same as making adjustments using a child theme? Do I need to set up a child theme for use with this? It does not seem to be necessary at all. For further reference the weaver II themes in the "admin" panel are referred to as "sub-themes".

    2) there are "pro" options which are enabled via a paid version. Will there be limitations down the line using the free version? I would like to think that the "pro" options are simply extra scripts and that I could achieve those things myself via html/css/php in the editor.

    Thanks

    No.

    I think that's true.

I doubt the free version will have any features removed. New features that are added might be added to the paid plugin rather than the free theme version, but even that's not always true, depends on the feature. At least that's how it's been.

You're probably better off asking questions about Weaver at the Weaver forums http://weavertheme.com/support/support-forum/

that is nice to know. I have registered at the weaver forums which I can use if I have questions that are really specific to weaver. I have another query that is quite generic:

If I wanted to edit my footer.php file to remove "powered by wordpress" would I need a child theme? From what I understand modifying any parent theme files is unstable and will cause problems when the parent is updated (as well as changes being irreversible). I'm not sure how I'd go about creating a child theme for use with weaver II because the way the parent is related to modifications/script inserts made via the admin panel.

    Q. Would a child theme still be manipulated via edits made in the weaver II admin panel?

I have a feeling this is the case. If this is true I can just make a child theme for weaver ii the usual way
