Hi, is this the appropriate place to ask about the Pro version? I think I’ll need that version to get everything I want. If not, please let me know where to ask. Before I buy it though, I need to be sure it will work for us.

I need the ability for a logged in user (who already has a user role set up in the system – we are using the Members plugin to set up custom user roles – to take multiple tests, or one long test (with the ability to quit in the middle and come back to where they were before), and have their progress stored in the database.

    1. Is there an issue with the user already having a user role assigned? (i’ve seen mentioned a user role of ‘student’). Would we need to add a capability to a current role to make things work?

    2. We need to be able to query from the front end to see if the logged on user has completed the test. Is this easy/possible? Is it possible to query based on anything more granular, such as percentage completed of the test, or anything like that?

    Thanks for your assistance,
    Dot

    Hi Dot,

“1. Is there an issue with the user already having a user role assigned? (i’ve seen mentioned a user role of ‘student’). Would we need to add a capability to a current role to make things work?”

There is no issue, you just need to enable that user role in the Watu PRO settings page. If it’s a custom role and not some of the WordPress roles then you can use Capabilities manager or similar plugin and add “watupro_exams” capability to the role.

“2. We need to be able to query from the front end to see if the logged on user has completed the test. Is this easy/possible? Is it possible to query based on anything more granular, such as percentage completed of the test, or anything like that?”

Full details of what users have completed is available as both snapshot and as table format in the administration. Is it what you need or have I misunderstood your question?

No, I understand that it is available on the admin side.

I was meaning were there functions we could use to display the test status to a logged on user, like whether they had started the test, or whether they had finished it, so we could display different content to the based on whether they had finished the test or not.

For example, We want to be able to know if a logged on user has taken a test, and if so present different content to him on the front end. Like, if they have completed the test, to not show a link to the test but rather show “Congratulations, you’ll all done!” or something like that.

Or we were wondering if it would be possible to show sidebar messaging like “You’re 56% complete with your orientation test, don’t forget to finish it” Or “You haven’t completed the Orientation test yet, don’t forget!”

    Does that make more sense?

Yup, got it. All great ideas but at this time not available out of the box. You’d need some kind of customization to handle this.
