Hello! Recently the below warning message has been appearing at the top of my dashboard. I also have a blank page with this warning when I try to save drafts (and my changes are not saved). At this point when I try to login this is all I see, so I can’t even edit my blog. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I appreciate the links, and I will give them a try. But how can I do this when I can’t even log in or view my dashboard?

When I log in, the page is completely blank except for the error message.

Read the first article — you will need to have FTP access, but no login.

Thank you. I did read the article, but I have never used FTP and don’t have any knowledge about it. I will make an attempt to figure it out, but I have to say it is frustrating to do all this time-consuming learning and troubleshooting just because of problems caused by the upgrade. (As mentioned, the “add media” button isn’t working either, although I will start a new thread for that.)

I know as a moderator this is not your fault, but I am expressing feedback to WordPress in general.

Yes, I certainly understand and sympathize, but the problem is very likely that your theme looks to be quite outdated:

    http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/paperpunch

Unfortunately, not all developers keep their themes current and WP.org has no control over that.

Where did you get the theme from – is it more recent than that one listed above?

Hmm interesting. Yes that could be a good part of the issue – I took that theme from the directory this past summer.

I will attempt the FTP process this weekend. In the meantime, I just discovered that even when others view my blog (www.kitchen-chronicles.com) they get the error message…although it seems to be working half the time.

Is there any way to go back to the older version of WordPress?

    Thanks!

Not unless you have a full, restorable back-up including your database — and even then, it’s not really advisable because older versions may now have or eventually have security vulnerabilities. And you’d still only be putting off dealing with whatever problem exists in that theme.

I see. Ok I will work on it this weekend – I appreciate your help!

Good news – I was working through the FTP process and called GoDaddy for assistance, as they are my host. The rep walked me through deleting the paperpunch theme folder within my GoDaddy account. After activating a new theme, the warning message was gone. This has also solved my “add media” photo issues.

Looks like the theme was the culprit in the end. I’ll just choose a new one. Thanks for the help!
