    Help please.

I'm desperatley seeking some help please
I have been experiencing quite a bit of down time lately with my host, Brinkster. After a while, they suggested using mysql5 instead of mysql4 which I was on.

The tech support (they are usually very helpful) went ahead and swapped my database over. Then all hell broke lose.

I changed the string in wp-config.php to mysql5... but I kept getting the same error (which you can see now at davemadethis.com/twoboobs/ ).

I couldn't find a problem in functions.php, so I didn't know what to do. I ended up replacing wp-config.php with a backed up version, after the tech help switched my back to msql4.

I still had the problem, so I swapped the functions.php file with one I had from a back up. Still the problem...

Please please please...I will be eternally greatful for any help on this.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Dave

    C:\Sites\Single9\davemadethis\webroot\twoboobs\wp-includes\functions.php on line 283

This shows your blog is on your local machine.
    Is it hosted or not?

Thanks for jumping on this...I really need to get the site back up.

What 2 uri's do you have at:
    admin -> options -> general

    I use:
    http://www.davemadethis.com/twoboobs/
    and
http://www.twoboobsandababy.com (which redirects to the above).

I can't log into admin now, because I still have the page full of errors...hmmm....

    Thanks for your help.

Are you hosted on windows or linux? If linux, those are windows paths, so something is really wrong.

Also, the two URIs should be the same. Don't do redirects via the WP settings -- that could screw things up royally. Do redirects via other methods (i.e., DNS, htaccess, etc.).

Windows. I'm not sure how to find my URIs. I included my URLs before.
Everything was working fine before they switched me over to mysql5. It didn't work then, and hasn't since they switched me back over to mysql4.

    Hmmm....

Ask your hosts if they changed anything else when they switched MySQL versions?

    They claim they didn't.

Is it possible that my database may have been corrupted when my host switched me from mysql4 to mysql 5, then back to mysql4 ???

Anything is possible. I don't know what that line is in code, or what error it is from, so hard to say.

The MySQL problems at Brinkster right now have to do with some odd security fix they put in place, that then broke tons of working PHP code. ;)

Someone with experience would need access to your site (FTP and WP), and would have to hand-debug what is going on. At least, IMHO.

I don't see the error anymore?

But if it's a foreach error somewhere in functions.php, it's related to the NO_BACKSLASH_ESCAPE issue. Read this topic for more information.

    Now I get this:
    http://www.davemadethis.com/twoboobs/wp-admin/install.php

It looks like my database has become corrupted!
Should I go ahead and clear them?

    Thanks Nazgul:
Very informative about Brinkster...very disappointing too.

    Cheers,
    Dave
