I tried to clear out a failed WP install (even deleted all tables in the database), then re-install. Did it twice, in case I'd messed up first time, but result is the same. The Blog appears, but I can't log in as administrator.

    I get this message:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/h/o/c/hockings/html/wp-config.php:24) in /home/content/h/o/c/hockings/html/wp-login.php on line 12

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/h/o/c/hockings/html/wp-config.php:24) in /home/content/h/o/c/hockings/html/wp-login.php on line 24
    New Freebooters

I also get the message that my browser is refusing cookies, which is untrue.

Any idea where I should look for the source of the problem, or how I should set about cleaning out and re-installing so that it doen't happen once again?

    1. You have an empty line or blanks space after the closing ?> in the wp-config.php file. Remove it:

Thanks! I wouldn't have found that in a month of Sundays...

It is just about learning how to read the error message :)

    (output started at /home/content/h/o/c/hockings/html/wp-config.php:24)

Looking at the wp-config file in a "smart" text editor that has line numbering... you will see there are only 23 lines in it. So line 24 must be an empty/blank line. Voila!
