UpdraftPlus Backup and Restoration for WordPress
[resolved] Warning: A zip error occurred (8 posts)

    This morning I installed Updraft Plus on a new site that I have just completed and I am currently getting:
    Warning: A zip error occurred

    The site is hosted on the same server (different account) as another WordPress site that has Updraft Plus installed and has been working perfectly.

    I can make any sense of the log file to work out the problem.
    I did do a search for this error and saw another post, but it didn't advise any resolution.

    Hi,

    Can you post the log file, please? Use pastebin.com - it'll be too big to post here.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,

    I've been installing Updraft Plus on each of my sites and I am getting the same error on all of them except for the original one I installed several weeks back. All version numbers are the same and they are all hosted with the same provider.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Perhaps the host's PHP ZipArchive module has a problem. Try switching to a different zip module, by adding this to your wp-config.php (add it next to the line with WP_DEBUG in):

    define('UPDRAFTPLUS_PREFERPCLZIP', true);

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi David,

    I did try the above, however backups would not even start at all after I added define('UPDRAFTPLUS_PREFERPCLZIP', true);
    I then removed the define('UPDRAFTPLUS_PREFERPCLZIP', true); and backups would commence but have the zip error again.

    It must be an issue just with backing up to Google Drive as I have since changed to Rackspace Cloudfiles and every single backup has been completed successfully with no errors.

    Thanks,
    Toherangi

    Hi Toherangi,

    Glad you've got it working. It can't be down to the cloud storage selection, though, as internally that setting doesn't come into play until after the zip has been created. (And the zip setting wouldn't affect the backup starting, either - it doesn't get consulted until the backup has begun).

    So, that's a bit strange. If you have problems again, then please post your full log into pastebin.com, and then I may be able to say something more useful!

    David
