Google Calendar Events
Wanting to show just certain categories of events (5 posts)

    Hi,
I am working on our church website. Our church puts all of it's events on one Google Calendar account.

On some pages, I would like to display all of our church events, like I do here: http://www.lebanonbfc.org/calendar/

However, I would also like to display on certain types/categories of events on other pages (For example, I would like to show only the events that involve our youth group on a seperate page.

Is there a way to do this - to create different categories of events within one Google Calendar feed? I was thinking perhaps of using different color labels for different events within Google Calendar. If I chose a unique color for youth events, another for children's events, etc., would there be a way to show only those types in a list using your plugin? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

    Apologies for the delayed reply.

This isn't really possible, I'm afraid. The development version of the plugin adds support for basic keyword filtering of events, but this isn't really the same thing as "categories".

ok. thank you. Keywords might be helpful... If I begin each of our church's youth events with the letters YF, are you saying that I could create a custom list that only displays events with the letters 'YF'? If so, how do I do this?

Also, can I manually install the development version alongside of the stable version, or do I have to unistall the stable version before using the dev. version?

In theory, yes. The dev version adds a "Search query" option into the feed settings, so you'd just enter "YF".

You can't install the dev version alongside the stable version, but if you deactivate the stable version, then manually replace it (without uninstalling it via the WordPress dashboard) with the dev version, it should keep all your feeds and settings.
