I am searching for a theme for a Great Dane rescue site that I do for a lady for free. Please let me know if anyone knows where I could find one or if someone is willing to help me. Thank you all so much!

That sounds like a worthy cause. I have a credit at iStockphoto, can use my Green Apples theme and stick a photo of a great dane in the header. Any color preferences? There's a really nice photo of a Harlequin, also a little puppy. Look at these photos:

There's another one of a full-grown adult next to a chihuahua that's really cute too.

Would I need to buy the photo? I think if I used a harlequin I think the page bullets or such should just be black and white...whatta ya think?

I have tried it with that theme and changing the apples. Is there a way I can compress the top to be not so tall...and bring the about|contact links under the lines below the header? I dunno what it is missing but it seems plan or is it just me? Any tips would help.

Yes, you could do that. Did you get the image? Like I said, I have a credit, I don't mind using it.
It is a pretty plain template - the only graphics are in the header and the various blog icons.

That's cool - but just to let you know, I see you're using the photo that I put used in the theme - just be aware that it is not a public domain or GPL photo and is licensed for only one use.

Thanks! I will try and figure out why the one you sent hangs in IE. I validated and it came back bad. I really like your best. The one I am using is the classic wp theme. I will not use the photo on any other site...is that what you mean?

Came back bad? Hmmm...
I would have to look at it on your site because the original theme validates fine and all I changed was the width of the sidebars and the graphics. If you still want to use it, I'll test the zipped copy I sent you on my server and see if it works. Or hang tight, I'm updating the Green Apples theme to 2.7 next and replacing the script behind the menu - that may well be the problem.
Yes, it's a one-use photo license, meaning one use, one site. It just means you can't distribute it; it's not public domain.
