   Hi,

   I am in need of a welcome screen which should pop up before blog index page and it should fade out automatically or can be closed.

   I tried installing different welcome plug-ins, none of them worked out.

   I would appreciate if someone can walk me through steps to create a custom welcome screen or any welcome screen plug in .

   Since I hate those fading welcome pages, the least I can do is point out that WordPress allows you to have a static front page. Those options can be found in your Administration > Settings > Reading screen.
