   Hello, I am using wordpress in my blog, before few days my categories were appearing in nice way

   http://< blog-url >.com/category/education

   But after I have made some changes in wordpress theme I am getting

   http://< blog-url >.com/?cat=1200

   I don't know what is gone wrong, also if I change to another theme, categories work fine. can any one help me finding the problem.

   Go to Settings > Permalinks and see if it has been set back to default.

   I tried permalinks with all given options but same result. When I used the default theme, it works fine. It might have an issue with theme?

   I have got it solved now. In category widget I just unchecked the box that show categories in drop down.

   Kind of related - any idea how to get rid of the annoying "CAT|" in front of category listings? Here is an example of what I am talking about: http://baruchcenter.ath.cx/?page_id=199

   I'm not aware of a plugin that does this nor am I afraid of modifying core wordpress files.
