Want to change blog name, directory, etc.

    My current blog name is http://www.mydomain.com/blogname. I want to change the blog name and all the information in the directory and throughout my wordpress installation so that the entire blog reflects that change. I also don’t want to lose my previous posts, photos and data.

    How do I start and follow through this procedure?

    What is “all the information in the directory and throughout my wordpress installtion”?

    Changing JUST the name is a 2 minute process…
    1. login admin > Options > General
    2. Change the 2 URI values to the new name
    3. Update options (you’ll get a 404 but don’t worry)
    4. Do NOT try to view your blog in a browser!!!
    5. FTP > and rename the folder
    6. Now you can enjoy your blog with the new name

    That seems easy enough, thank you for the info.

    I thought that changing the name might require having to go in and manually changing data in numerous files. Nice to know I don’t have to do that.

    One other question. When you refer to the folder to be FTP’d, which folder is that? The original wordpress folder I used to install the blog with?

    I didn’t say to be “FTP’d”! What I meant: to rename it via FTP. And yes, rename the “blogname” folder to whatever you want to change it. Wasn’t that your question???
