    Hi,

New to wordpress so please bear with me. Apologies if this is a repeated forum question too.

I am using WAMP as a testing server and Dreamweaver CS5 as a text-editor to manipulate the theme files.

I have successfully set up a live local connection between WAMP, WP and DW and can view the live index.php file from the wp-admin folder after using the 'discover' the dynamic files on dreamweaver.

My problem is that if I select the index.php files in the themes folder, I get the following error message and the link is broken:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header in C:\WAMP\www\wordpress\wp-content\themes\twentyeleven\index.php on line 1

Is this because the activated theme is already being displayed dynamically in the wp-admin folder, and I am causing a conflict by going directly to the themes to edit the files?

Would be grateful for some feedback.

Thank you Brad. I might wait around for some more answers before I resolve the post but I think I am understanding the file structure better now.

Hi tobeeornot, were you able to make any progress on this issue?

    Hi Brad,

    Thanks for following up.

The issue was caused by the fact I was selecting index.php from the template folder when the code from that folder is actually rendered in the index.php file within the wp-admin folder. It was mostly about understanding the wordpress file structure which those posts you found above referred to.

    Thanks again for your help.
