• If you guys could help me out, I’d be eternally grateful.

    So here is my issue:

I have WAMPServer 2.0 running on my windows Vista box and I’ve been trying to install WordPress. The Wordress blog I am creating displays great when I put the unzipped wordpress directory inside the ‘www’ directory of WAMPServer. However, when I create a folder such as ‘example’ into the ‘www’ directory THEN put the wordpress directory inside of ‘example’ it doesn’t display, it just tries to download the .php file. It’s weird, I know.

If anyone has any insight as to way my WAMPServer will display wordpress properly inside of the www folder and NOT as a sub-directory, that would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Quick edit to this previous post, I put the ‘blog’ folder inside of a different folder on wamp, and it displayed perfectly. I think it might be a case of the old blog and the new blog somehow competing or something. I don’t know.

Just saw your post. I realize this is not quite the problem you were dealing with, but any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I just started with WordPress. My host (1and1.com) does not have MySQL or cPanel or phpMyAdmin installed in the package I bought. (Running Windows XP.) Is WAMP a good course of action? I am kind of lost. Or can you recommend a good starter guide? I have not found the WordPress forum or codex very helpful thus far.
