w3 validator errors on basic site (9 posts)

This must be something I'm doing but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Can someone help me understand why the base wp installation fails the w3 validator. I get 6 errors, 1 warning, and I've installed absolutely nothing.
Changing the template from 2010 to 2011 reduces the errors to 5.

And then, of course, how can these can be fixed for good - as in when I upgrade I don't have to worry about the errors reappearing.

What are the validation errors being reported?

Most of those sound to me like shortcomings in the Validator itself. I don't see any meaningful validation errors being reported.

IMHO, you can safely ignore them.

    Now this is really weird.

I just installed another template and the errors have dropped from 5 to 2. Makes me wonder about ignoring the errors...

The validator should tell you. HTML 5 and it's validator are still in the "experimental" stage compared to XHTML.
