W3 Total Cache - Latest development version adding query strings at the end of u (21 posts)

Running the latest development version, after a complete uninstall deleting the configuration file, and re-installing everything is working very good.

The only exception is that when you enable the browser cache the url's get what I believe is a query string attached to the end of the pages and posts, except the main page or home.

    They have this structure http://www.domain.com/something/?57543

    How can that be disabled?

Yes, we noticed the same as well. Took us a while and disabling of all plugins to find out though ;)
It is not really helping I guess since this is also added to the canonical URL and therefore changes the permalinks of all posts.

Each blog on our multi-site install has a different number added after the "?" and this stays the same on all posts of that blog.

What is it used for and how can it be disabled?

    Hi bigcityinformer,

This morning I received an email from the developer as I submitted this as a bug report, and he said "This is fixed in another release I will push tomorrow.".

So we will get our fix soon enough.

Cool :) Thanks for the Info
Let's hope the version number is different as well so we will know once it got updated ;)

Also noticed a very loooong connect time if this ?12345 is added to the URL, not sure if it's related though.

I think that the latest development version won't have a number like 0.9.13 etc, he only puts versions on the stable releases for downloads.

However if you download the dev version, and unzip it you can see the dates of the file creation, which gives you a hint of how long ago they were modified.

And yes, I did noticed also the added delay to connect with the query string at the end.

Just switched back to the normal version, this will do for now I guess ;)
Also Google Ads did not show sometimes with the dev version for some reason.

Sorry for being so slow on this but how do you get the developer version? I am having the problem listed here (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-w3-total-cache-cloudfilescdn-new-images-throwing-object-already-exists-error) and the suggested solution was to use the development version.

I am not trying to crash this post accept that you two seem to be in the know on such things and the link I referenced is fairly old and likely no longer active.

    Thanks.

@LifeAtTheCircus you can find the downloads for the other versions on the main page for the plugin, under the star rating where it says FYI or here is the link.

All the way at the bottom.

Thanks anyway. I hope to give it a try tonight (or should I wait till tomorrow given the problem you two were discussing?)

I say wait till tomorrow, but keep in mind that development versions, either fix or break something, or they just simply work.

I understand. Life is all about risk :-).

Thanks again for your help. Will wait until tomorrow.

I forgot to write here I did it this morning, just a minor glitch I encountered but it's resolved now. Let us know how it goes.

Well I seem to have found a pretty serious glitch. My troubleshooting can't seem to solve it so I am gonna try and figure out how to do a bug report. I am using minify as I did before and it consolidates my javascript and css like it is supposed to. However, it does not remove others so now users end up downloading both the minimized one and the originals. (now theirs 5 css instead of the original 4).

I messed with it for a while and am pretty sure it's not a setting on my end. Pretty sure it is an issue with the developers version.

Good call, I think that is the best way to do it. To send the bug report you go to the support tab of the plugin.

I bet you did it already, but you can try to disable minify and empty all your caches, then reenable it again and empty all your caches again.

Close your browser window that is displaying your site, leave one tab open go to google.com or anything else than your site, do shift + crtl + delete and press clear, then visit your site.

I am guessing you are using firebug to check the components of your page, or use whatever method you used to check how many css you are sending.

Thanks for letting me know how to submit the bug report (I may not have found it otherwise). I sent it in last night. I also offered to leave it up in the "bugged" configuration so he could see it if that helped him ID the bug.

I had tried all the standard trouble shooting stuff already (though I had not known the "shift + crtl + delete and press clear" trick before). I am not a REAL web developer so without firebug I would be lost. Anyway, I am pretty sure the glitch is on the developer version of the plugin side.

Not sure how much a mom blog will interest you but your welcome to check it out if you feel so inclined (lifeatthecircus.com).

Just an update. I never heard back from the author about the bug fix (which is understandable since I am sure he is really busy with his own life) but for what it's worth, I had to reinstall the plugin (developer version) for another reason and now it seems to be working correctly. I don't know if it just took doing a full uninstall and reload or if he/she corrected the bug without letting me know. Whatever the case, It seems to be working now and I am happy about it. Thanks kepoma for your support and to the developer if you did in fact change anything.

Hey there, he is indeed a busy man. He is all over the forums and twitter answering questions and honestly is incredible how many things he tackles with his plugin.

I think that he pushes updates quite often but in a low profile style, not publicizing them. And sometimes re-installing things from scratch do have a good effect, by cleaning corrupted settings and databases.

I am happy things are working out for you now, and by the way I did check your blog, you have your hands full :-) in a very good and fulfilling way. I have two kids but they both are teens now, which is another circus :-)

Sorry for the trouble, the feature with the query strings is to allow for the browser cache settings to be changed and for the new policy to be applied to the files without users having to flush their browser's cache.
