• While editing a WordPress page for a client using Chrome, the visual page view was blank. Text view was fine, so I edited in text mode. Later, just for S&G, I opened the same page using Firefox, and both visual and text mode worked fine; then I checked Chrome again and still no visual mode. Disabling all my Chrome extensions made no difference.

    Ideas?

  • Hi HorstGrundke?

Try setting your Theme to TwentyEleven or one of the default themes and see if the problem persists.

Usually it is a problem with the theme that you are using. Be sure to upgrade to the latest version of wordpress as well

Thanks for the reply, but this is a live enterprise website running a custom theme. I’m merely doing some copy-editing for them, so I don’t have the option or inclination to change themes, tinker with plugins, or otherwise play under the hood. Besides, last night I allowed a web developer friend in another state to have access, and she was able to access visual mode in Chrome, Firefox, Opera, and IE.

Apparently the problem is local to my machine, and specifically to Chrome. I’ve tried re-installing Chrome and disabling all extensions, but it made no difference. As I said, I can use Firefox if I really need visual mode, so this is more of a puzzle than a problem.
