As you requested, here's the new thread.

I deactivated each plugin then tried one at a time, and I still get the same errors.

Any ideas? I'm lost! Thanks again for your help!

So they each activate if you just do each one singly? But if you try a second one, whichever one you try gives you errors?

Here's what I did. I deactivated ALL of them. Then I activated Spam Karm, and it still didn't work, even with no other plugins activated.

Okay, then I would suggest first to download a fresh distro of the latest version of sk, uncompress, delete the old one from your server, and reupload, then try again.

It could be a corrupted file....

[And I'm off to bed; I'll check back tomorrow.]

Tried that too. But it's weird that I'm suddenly having problems with all three of those plugins when with 2.0 they worked fine...

    Night! :)

    vkaryl,

One more question--if I decide to just give up on 2.0.1, how do I go about downgrading to 2.0? Do I just delete all the files and replace with my backup or is there more to it than that?

Yes. Assuming a backup of the files, and a backup of the database (one that hasn't been "touched" by 2.0.1!), you would drop the tables in the database, use the sql query file field to upload the backup, then delete the wp files from the server, upload the 2.0 distro. You *might* need to actually reinstall 2.0, THEN drop the tables and restore the database. I've had it work both ways, it seems to depend on servers (and sometimes gremlins, the day of the week, and how I hold my mouth.... and I'm not necessarily kidding when I say that....)

And I have not come up with anything bright in the way of fixes overnight either. I'm sorry!

Okay, I have a stupid question--what do you mean by "drop the tables in the database" and "use the sql query file field"?

I'm going to point you at the single best tutorial for messing with databases that there is:

    http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/empty-drop/

There's a wealth of other info on podz's site too....

Hmm. That link scares me. I don't want to screw everything up doing it by myself. I can just imagine what will happen. I think I need to ask around and find someone who can help me.

    Thanks though!

Another question...I did the backup so I have a sql.gz file. But, I also just copied everything from my public_html/wordpress directory into a different backup folder. Can I just re-upload the wordpress directory? Or does that not work?

    Delete ALL the plugins.
    What happens ?

Am I correct in thinking it's plugin activation that screwing things up ?

    Delete or deactivate them?

I deactivated ALL of them, then activated only Spam Karma and I still got that error.

    Deactivate them all.
Then Delete the lot from the server.

Check the blog works okay (and that plugin functions are not to blame for any oddness at that point)

    Then, upload a single plugin
    Activate it.
Doesn't matter which, but only do one.

    And tell us what happens.

The blog works okay with them all activated or deactivated or deleted. The blog has always worked. Only those three plugins don't work.

The threads are long and complex :)

Which three plugins, do you have the latest versions ?

Okay, the plugins I am having problems with are Spam Karma 2, Akismet, and wp-backup, and they are all the latest and greatest. Akismet and wp-backup I believe even came with the upgrade. So, here are the issues:

    1. I get this error when trying to access Options--Spam Karma 2. I activated SK 2.1, the most recent plugin.

    Cannot load spamkarma2.

    2. when I go to manage–backup, I get this error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class wpdbbackup in /home/superjux/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-db-backup.php on line 23

    3. when i activate Akismet and try to enter my API key, I get this:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ksd_config_page() (previously declared in /home/superjux/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/akismet/akismet.php:14) in /home/superjux/public_html/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/akismet/akismet.php on line 13

I get all of these errors on the Dashboard, not on my blog. Hope that helps explain it all...

    Hilary

p.s. I'm most concerned with getting some sort of spam protection up and working before my hosting company freaks out.

Also, looks like this person had a similar problem: but I don't know what he means by "PHP 4.3.10"

    And here as well.
