I am helping someone update their blog… I switched themes from AgentPress to Attorney by wpthemesnz. After getting the initial setup complete I went to start adding/editing posts but there is not a Visual Tab only the code tab. How do I get the Visual tab back?!?!

Try switching to a different theme, and see if it’s that.

I have switched to several different themes (including my previous theme that I know I had the visual tab with) and the Visual tab is still not visible. I updated to the latest wordpress. And I updated/installed a plugin that was suppost to make the visual tab visible by default – still nothing…. HELP!!!

Try deactivating ALL plugins and switching to twentythirteen theme.

Clear your browser cache and try another browser.

Check under your user profile that the visual editor is not disabled (try this one first).

Check that the rich text editor hasn’t been disabled in your profile.

The tab was disabled in the user profile…. THANK YOU!

If you don’t mind, do you recall checking that box in your profile? Only it seems to me that this kind of “problem” seems to happen more commonly after a core upgrade.

I did not check the box in my profile… I guess that’s why I didn’t check there to solve the problem.

Thanks. I suspect that this is something that happened during the upgrade but I’ve never been able to figure out why it happens to some people and not others. Nor have I been able to determine if it indicates a potentially more serious issue with the database or upgrade.

Just to be on the safe side, I’d recommend repairing all of your database tables using Phpmyadmin or whatever database management tool your host provides. I’m probably being over paranoid but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
