I have tried all the solutions I have read in other Threads:

I have installed “Use Google”, emptied caches on all browsers, and disabled/enabled “display Visual Editor”. With “Use Google” is activated and “display editor when writing” is checked, I can see some options under visual, but not all (change colors, for example).

I have also switched to Twenty Eleven, and nothing still.

    Any thoughts?

this is true for ALL browsers, as well, and I have disabled all plugins as well,

I just realized…could it be because I “hardened” Wp-content with Sucuri? I have tried to find the .htaccess file and delete it as sucuri suggested, but, I cannot see the .htaccess in my file manager even though when doing a search it says it exists?

could it be because I “hardened” Wp-content with Sucuri?

It’s possible. I’m not sure what steps have been taken during this hardening process, so couldn’t say for sure. I will admit, however, that I’ve not heard of any of their advice or work causing problems in a WP site before.

I cannot see the .htaccess in my file manager

Ensure that your file manager to FTP client is configured to show all file types. .htaccess files are often hidden by default. If you are using your hosts’ file manager, ask them to assist you with this.

I found the .htaccess file and deleted it. No change. 🙁

Can you try switching to the default 2012 theme to see if that helps?

Also try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. If you can manage it, use the Phpmyadmin method. I have known of some situations where that has been the only thing that has completely removed an especially bad plugin.

I am not that tech saavy. So, instead, I did a complete fresh install of 3.5.1 on another domain I own. Still, no access to the visual editor. This must clearly be a bug in the latest update.

I also just tried the “Ultimate tinymce” plugin. This is getting super frustrating.

I’m sorry but this is specific to your sites. so it’s unlikely to be a bug in WordPress as the other 10 million+ users aren’t experiencing it.

What theme are you currently using? And do you have any active plugins?

Hey Darthtraders, any luck with getting your visual editor back? I had the same problem, deleted the .htaccess file to but still no luck. I have even removed sucuri and this has not solved it!

I am fine with HTML editing but another workmate needs the visual editor for editing.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.
