• Upon upgrading to WP 3.9 the Visual Editor stopped working. And all the icons from the Text editor disappeared. In addition, the insert image dialog box was messed up to where I could not insert anything from my list of images. Also the Theme section of the admin site was all screwy.

I turned off all plugins. Switched to the default theme. And manually re-installed WordPress. Nothing worked.

Finally enabled SCRIPT_DEBUG following the directions here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors and that made the problem go away. So I am reporting here as I was instructed to do on the aforementioned page.

I’m confused as to where to post this since I am simply following the instructions here…

Issue is fixed – turn off script debugging and report the issue on the support forum, telling the volunteers the you turned on script debugging and it solved the problem.

Do I need to post this somewhere else?

    anyone?

I am having trouble using the visual editor today in Blargo, a child theme of Largo. I don’t have a clue what to do, but I can’t upload media, can’t add hyperlinks, can’t add tags. Other features work, like changing text characteristics and alignment, and selecting categories. Are you saying you fixed the problem with the script debug?

Try disabling plugins one by one, one of your plugin may have compatibility issues with new version of wordpress.

It fixed the problems but you aren’t supposed to leave it turned on.

Thanks, codemovement.pk – that seems to have fixed the problem.

It was the Comprehensive Google Map Plugin, which I think I automatically updated this morning. I just disabled it.
