• Last night, my visual editor stopped working. So far, I’ve tried all the troubleshooting issues I’ve been able to find on the forum. I’ve shut off plug-ins, I’ve switched to a default theme, I’ve flushed caches on browsers and my computer’s DNS cache, I did a manual re-install of the program, I’ve used Google Libraries.

It’s only happening to two sites that I run using 3.5.1 and it happened after I deactivated and deleted the Adsense Extreme plug-in. (The re-install of the program came after the deletion of the plug-in.)

I’m at a loss what to do.

  • I have the same problem. I updated to 3.5.1 and I no longer have a visual editor. I tried deactivating all the plugins, but that didn’t help.

I had the same problem with the previous release of 3.5 and I was hoping that 3.5.1 would fix the issue, but it didn’t. I have read many forum posts about this problem, some from the previous 3.5 release – I have heard that reinstalling manually will help, but many claim it doesn’t work. I’ve heard that various plugins like Tiny MCE are the problem or that it’s an .htaccess permissions issue, but I’m reluctant to mess with that. So, can someone PLEASE find a definitive answer about why the visual editor won’t work in the last 2 releases and a REAL fix for it? I will try the various solutions and report back to see if anything works, but I’m skeptical…

Fixed it! I went back to a forum post from a few weeks ago that previously had no answer, and now the answer is… Install the “Use Google Libraries” plug-in and activate it. It uses Google for the javascript code instead of the wordpress javascript, which obviously has a bug, at least for some users. Try it – it worked for me!

I tried that and it didn’t work.
